Thank you for a lovely memorial service for Shirley. Your mom was a very special person who was loved by all she came in contact with. I'm very grateful and honoured that she and I were friends, and always made time for each other. She was so proud of her children, and the caring and responsible adults they have become. May she rest in peace, and may we always keep the memory her in our hearts and minds.

When I first met Shirley, I was in Sub B. When she told me that she was a teacher, I was astounded because, in my young mind - she had to be a princess. She played a large part in our family memories and I’m grateful for that. Shirley later encouraged me in my faith and she has left an indelible mark on my heart. My thoughts and prayers of comfort are with Kelly, Nick, Jason, Laël, her grand children and all family and friends. Surely, Shirley lives on, peace-filled, pain-free and forever young in Heaven and in our hearts.

I will miss stopping in to visit Shirley when previously in Kimberley and then CT. One of the memories we shared with much laughter was a hike,, one of Shirley’s first. Dear Shirl presumed her hockey boots would be most comfortable!! Alas sore feet!! Will miss you Shirl! Xx

Shirley’s gentle wisdom and quiet tact touched me in countless ways. When faced with a delicate decision, I ask myself ‘How would Shirley respond ? What would Shirley do?’’ I am always filled with a sense of peace and comfort. Her legacy is one of listening, understanding and loving and she will always live on in my heart

I only met Shirley when she moved into Burgundy, Cape Town a few years ago. What a lovely person – with her ready smile and her warm manner. I felt I had found a special friend! Whether walking around the complex or hanging up the washing, she always had time for a chat. Shirley always looked beautiful and seemed to have a serenity, an inner peace about her. I was moved by her strong faith and her amazing courage in these last months and days. She loved her family and was deeply grateful regarding how much they cared for her. Shirley will be sorely missed. Sincere condolences to all her family!

Dearest Shirl, what a lovely lady. Beautiful inside and out. Always smiling, calm and quiet and always a pleasure to be in her company. Even though we did not see each other often enough, it was always good to catch up. You will be missed. Much love to you Shirl xx

When Kelly and Nicholas were babies, Shirley and I were part of a lovely group called The Baby Club. We met weekly for support, friendship, and to let our little ones socialise. Shirley had the most wonderful sense of humour and such grace and class. She brought warmth wherever she went, and I have very happy memories of the time we shared together. 🤍 Rip dear Shirley

Shirl was the kindest, most beautiful soul on this planet. Shirl could not even have a bad thought; and never a bad word about anybody. The faith Shirl had in G-d was unwavering - never lost that faith in her Creator. Shirl, rest in Peace. Your suffering is over!!!

I met Shirley through a mutual friend, and before she left Kimberley she asked me to sell some of her clothes and furniture. I just thought what a beautiful kind woman she is and her great taste in clothes. I was very shocked to hear about her passing. My sincere condolences to her family.
